Separateness

One day as Manjusri stood outside the temple gate, the Buddha called to him, “Manjusri, why do you not enter?” Manjusri replied, “I do not see myself as outside, so why enter?”–Zen koan.

We are all connected to the sea of energy that is Creation; we’ve simply incarnated in a form that sees the separation instead of the connection. If you hold a rock in your hand, you see a homogeneous structure…one object we call a rock. Place it under high magnification, however, and you see all the individual atoms that make up that rock. In our present state, we are like the atoms, going about our daily lives unaware of the larger structure of Creation that we comprise.

When we see ourselves as being at one with everything and not separated due to physical individuation, there is no idea, person or place we are not part of. To experience this, we must be willing to transcend the narrow view of physical limitation and embrace the larger view of oneness.

Blessings,

J.H.
